Rain Needed!

July 18, 2012 in Uncategorized

Rain!

Pray for rain? To whom should I pray? Whom should I ask?

If God is the giver of rain, why do not we ask? And if we ask Him why is it that we don’t want to listen to Him and obey His Word? Better yet, why ask Him at all if we do not believe that He exist, if we don’t believe that He created everything that has and has no matter, no matter what? Why ask if we do not believe that he supplies us with our daily bread which includes the rains? Why ask for rain when we believe that everything comes by chance?  Why pray, Our Father in heaven your will be done. Please give us this day our daily bread?

These are good questions. Why is there no rain here on this northern continent and why is there too much say, for instance, in England or in the Far East? They tell me that it has not been as dry here as in the last 50 years. Talking about changes in the weather.

Somebody must give us some answers to get out of this predicament. We are loosing it, that is, crops and the financial consequences of crop failure.

That somebody who will give us the answers to get us out of our troubles is God our Creator who by His amazing grace offers us free salvation from all that is evil.

You see, you will find no answer to our drought situation in our newspapers. Scientists will tell us that the cause for this drought in the change of weather patterns. Yes, that is true. But history teaches us lessons which we can not ignore. Severe droughts have happened before even in ancient times. The Bible says that the cause of our droughts and of everything else that is and goes wrong is found in us.

God puts his finger on our problem. He says, Return to the Lord your God. Your sins have been your downfall. Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. Until now you have not asked for anything in my name. Ask and you will receive and your joy will be complete.

Most of us know the 23rd Psalm. The Lord is my shepherd, I shall lack nothing. He makes me to lie down in green pastures; he leads me beside still waters; he restores my soul.

Let us turn to the Lord God of the Scriptures, acknowledge Him as God the creator and supplier of all good gifts, acknowledge Him as a God Who is willing and able to forgive us through Jesus Christ. Let us follow the Shepherd Jesus and plead with him for his rain to fall so that we all can sing. Praise God from whom all blessing flow. Praise Him all you creatures here below.

p.s. Do not forget your umbrella!

Gift Of Pentecost

May 25, 2012 in Uncategorized

WEB Pentecost, 2012.

God gives and forgives. And that is at a dear price. Both giving and forgiving is not cheap. God gives Life, eternal life. Indeed, Christianity is a religion of life. How can we live? God gives life, eternal life to whomever He pleases.

To make our life possible He gives gifts, talents, opportunities and possibilities to discover things in His wonderful creation in as many fields of science as you can think of. Now you can explain and tell of these discoveries through languages, words. It is therefore that many sciences end in logy, from the word logos, which means word, such as technology, words about technical things, zoology words about animals, theology, words about God or just the word logical.

Nowadays you can type in a paragraph or two in, say the English language and get it translated through Google into German. Not only that. The program will read it to you audibly. You can hear what you write. Just wonderful. The danger of course is that the translation may not be correct.

What is fascinating is that the Bible says that in the beginning there was the Word, that the Word was with God and that the Word is God and through Him all things were created.

I used many years to learn a number of languages. There is a fellow in England who can pick up languages in a few weeks and change his speech from one language into another as if you were cutting cheese. Amazing.

People were equally amazed when they heard unlearned fisherman from the other side of the railroad track speak different language, 16 of them and they had not gone to school. How do you figure that one?

This happened many years ago with Pentecost when God gave Life to the church in the form of His Holy Spirit. I ask myself, Why does God give us words to speak and read, why does God allow us to make discoveries, why have we received talents and gifts? In other words, how do we live? Why do we live? What is the purpose of it all?

The story of Pentecost gives the answer, to declare the wonders of God in our own language. The wonder of it all is that when we turn to Jesus and do His Will than we too will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit who gives us faith to believe in the death and resurrection Jesus and who forgives us whatever wrongs we did and said. It is true God gives and forgives. Just wonderful. Amazing.

Dear God, Father of Jesus, we thank you for giving us your Holy Spirit to believe your word that Jesus died for sinners and that He rose again to give us eternal life so that today we have a real purpose to live for. Thank You for life and all its wonders. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

Typos

TYPOS!

Have you ever made spelling mistakes or typos? A famous typo is from but we type it as form. Now a day we hear, who cares about spelling mistakes or typos, as long as we get the message across. They have a whole new language that you can use on Twitter, Face book, I-pads, I-pods and the rest.

Did you notice the mistake in the last article we wrote? Most likely not. Was it a spelling mistake or a typo? Somewhere in the article about nano-technology was hidden the word Marojana. It should have been Majorana after the famous Italian physicist Ettore Majorana who studied and predicted neutrino masses.

Having corrected that mistake, that typo, we still beg the question, Did you know that we will not get the true message across with spelling mistakes and typos? Even the deletion of a paragraph, just one sentence, just one word, will upset the entire apple cart of a letter that you send or a chapter in a book that you happen to be reading. And than we do not even speak about what is taken out of context or interpreted wrongly of what is being said as the mass media at times does. And not only that. They even feed you with false information or fail to mention all the details of events as many governments are doing today. Pray that our Canada be spared from that.

The short end of the stick is this: How is real truth communicated as if there is false truth? A certain roman governor Pontius Pilate once stated, what is truth? To reach an answer we must go to the source of truth which is not a What but a Who, and this is not a typo. For truth to be absolute, for it to be eternally unchangeable, we must find it in a person who is eternally absolute and unchangeable. Yes, you have hit the nail right on the head. We find truth in the eternal God Who says (Jn.14:6) that He is the Way, the Truth and the Life. That is why you find in your Bible, especially in the Gospels, Jesus saying, I tell you the truth. You see, Jesus speaks from His Heart. He is Truth, eternal and unchangeable. What He says is most valuable for anyone who desires to listen. Jesus says. I tell you the truth, God so loved the world that He sent His only Son that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. This is no typo, no mistake, just plain and clear language. What more can I say? Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts and let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly to keep you frm eternal typos and mistakes.
